Open letter

7/3/2023
(An open letter to president -elect of Nigeria)
" Chief Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu the president-elect of Nigeria "
I am a primary school teacher at heartland of Kano state, if I may introduce myself. Firstly, I congratulate you for your winning the presidential election of great Republic of Nigeria. May God help you and make this a sign of the improvement of our country especially in primary education sector. I hope this letter will find you well. I write This letter to inform you and to draw your attention about the unpleasant, current situation of primary school teachers especially in Kano state, as a result of not being promoted and not being paid their salary (wages) on time and unexpected deduction without any reason. This has left the lives of primary teachers in stress, confusion, family problem, poverty, hunger, frustration, restlessness and financial difficulty. They sometimes look like mentally ill people or people from refugee camps. Many teachers usually wake up in the morning and go to school with empty stomachs and no thing left for their family. Mr president, all these problems that plague education in this country, such as lack of instructional materials, lack of buildings, lack of modern teaching materials and techniques, inadequate of both teaching staff and non teaching staff can be managed compare to problem of denying promotion among primary school teachers, because lack or failure to implement promotion is a major problem of ardent of poverty among primary schools Teacher.
If we go back to the history of our great country, some of our past leaders did their studies at the base of a tree, there was no classroom and there was no equipment, but there teachers are all calm and not been ploughed in to stresses and poverty. This enable them got a good knowledge that today we are proud with them, Mr president what do you expect if today primary school teachers have the appropriate promotion, I can assure you that every teacher can do the work of 5 people in his school because he has no problem at all and have a peace of mind. But today teacher has been working for 11 years without promotion and lives on a salary of 35000 per month ( for those who are on grade level 7 step 2 ). How can this little amount enable to carter for his family? All the School activities cannot be completed successfully if teachers are Hungary or in undue frustration. Because food is like the fuel which is necessary requirement for day-to-day activities. Calories in food provide energy to carryout our regular activities, Without an adequate amount of this energy, teachers will be weak and poor concentration to entire school activities.
Mr President, the primary school teachers are not looking for additional or extra money whatsoever, but rather only looking for promotion and paying their wages on time. Finally, I hope my letter will be accepted and considering, and I wish you to use your fountain of knowledge and charisma in building a new Nigeria with better educational momentum especially at the primary level.
Thank you

Sincerely yours,
